Sorry

Cueshe

In life nothings certain
You’ll never know when it’ll happen
Some burn out while some fade away
It doesn’t matter we’re heading that way

If I had the time
I’ll spend it with you

Time gets you old and weary
Like a lifeless ordinary
Some burn out while some fade away
I don’t want you to go
I want you to stay

If I could turn back the time
I’d spend it with you

I want you to know
Even though you’re gone
That I’m drowning in tears

I wish you were here
And hear me say
Believe me, I’m sorry

Feels like everything’s undone
Peace of mind still I haven’t found
And time will heal those broken mends
I know it will come, but when will it end

Heto naman ..song para sa mga taong wala ng pag-asa :)

Blue Sky

Hale

When do stars fade their light?
Does the moon and the sun make it right
For you the world maybe
Like an endless storm chasing a mystery

Is there hate in your heart?
Does your body drop and tell you to stop
Loving you or loving me
When it all falls down you just sing with me

Coz there’s a blue sky waiting tomorrow
Waiting tomorrow shining and shimmering
A blue sky waiting tomorrow
Waiting tomorrow
Maybe it’s all we need

Oh don’t you wash away that smile
You just look out the window and see the light
It’s beautiful to be alive
It’s wonderful to live a life

The sun is sure to shine
For you and me for everyone
So don’t be sad it’s just the start
Of a new beginning in your life

Rain will keep on pouring
Some things you can’t control
And while the sun seems far and hard to hold
It will unfold

There will always be a blue sky
A blue sky waiting tomorrow

Touring Cebu

July 25th, 2005 by lallie

I don’t usually write my personal experience here..but since I didn’t get the chance to share my story  to my super friends…so I just decided to do the blogging….err..did I get the term right ?

I’ve been to Cebu for I don’t know how many times, basically I spent my growing years there…It’s nice to go back once in a while and this time I went there because…err..ahm…because of…none other than the asian superstar…….Jerry Yan hehehe..ooohh soooooo fanatic noh?

Our main “agenda” actually was to see him..(though I have seen him a couple of times…I just consider myself so lucky diba? Considering I’m a Zaizai fan hahahaha) and watch this fashion show by Bench….which is….at the back of my mind…..well “this is another 10 minute or so appearance…then you’d queue for around 8 hours …blah blah blah…wake up early….stay on the floor.…and watch out for those singit….makipagaway sa mga fan groups dahil sa bulok na queuing system…hahahaha..same old story that goes on and on during F4 events….only in the Philippines huh! As in!

But hey!..I was right! same old story….same faces….same rules..…ayun same pa rin ang reason ng sigawan at awayan….that sigawan usually starts at around 3am usually… hahaha..while all of the people are sleeping and dreaming kami duon nakikipag away na……hahaha!..warfreak talaga  pagdating sa pila!! Nagalit tuloy ang aming Attorney. …ayan lumabas ang binding at mandate chenes..kulang na lang ilabas ang Republic Act number…blah blah blah…hahahaha….as I’ve said…as in the same lahat …except that mas madami nga lang dumating na fans from other countries ngayon..ackkk…from Japan, Thailand, Singapore, Korea, China…at guess what? 80% of the crowd are from Manila! I was just wondering why on earth did the Bench people chose Cebu..!! eh ang market nila nasa Manila…ayan shift shift shift..haba na nga kwento…

But aside from the reason above..….I was obliged by my friends to be their ahm..unofficial Cebu tour guide…..harharhar….karamihan kase sa kanila first time sa Cebu eh…..Imagine..I got there without paying a single cent on my plane ticket and hotel accommodation….but of course I owe them ….ahm….or was it for FREE?? …hehehehe

Anyway  here goes my story….(d pa pla story yun anoh? Hahaha…)

We took the 5am flight to Cebu, I think I left the house at around 3:30 am!! Wahoo! Imagine..I woke up that early!!  Anyway, pagdating ko, ako na lang ang hinihintay nila…Ayun so check in na kami…pagpasok naming mejo tama lang…after around 20 minutes boarding na…Since madami kami hindi kami magkakatabi…saw some familiar faces on the flight who will also be watching JY in Cebu…Ayos….kami kami din pala…kaloka..mejo madami dami din sila…so when we arrived sa airport, nakita na naming ung sundo from the hotel, eh I heard na 20 plus ung isang group so I talked to the driver in Bisaya na unahin kami..hehehe sorry may advantage ako kse I know how to speak..sympre mejo nawindang ksama ko kse I think it was the first time for them to hear me speak Bisaya….We actually had an itinerary for the whole stay namin…

Pagdating namin, since it was too early we thought na baka d pa kami maka check in, luckily ready na naman ang rooms so nagrest muna kami ng around 2 hours lang ata…

I was with Aira, Shine, Bheng, Bheng’s mom, Fran, Tita Belle (Fran’s mom), Sarah (sis ni Fran), Tita Mayette (Friend ng mom ni Fran..ayos friendster itoh!), Jen, Tita Elsie (Tita ni Les), Tita Lily (Mommy ni Les), Cielo (customer ni Tita Lily…sabi sa inyo Friendster eh!), Mia and Terry (sis ni Mia, but they took the last flight coz I think may pasok ata si Terry) and ako…

Anyway… nagkita na kami ng 9am sa hotel lobby..we went to Gorordo muna, eh malas..sarado for renovation..

Casa Gorordo is known for the antiques and other historical chenes..hahahaha..so sympre no choice alis na kami…next stop..

Magellan’s Cross…ayun so picture picture….sa akin lang I don’t see anything na kakaiba dun though I know na its some kinda historical.. they should have taken care of the landmark….oh well…buti nga mejo maayos ngayon the last time I went there puro vandal nga duon eh…

Sto. Nino Basilica….this church is really quite impressive…when I was in Cebu dun kmi sometimes nagsisimba….so for me…d na ganun ung dating….but still the church has a very good architectural structure (..tama ba? Whatever!!) saka sympre….ito yung one of the oldest church diba?….I was explaining to them na dito galing yung “Sinulog” coz Sinulog is a feast of the Sto. Nino…then our next stop…

Sto. Nino Museum…I’ve been in the place siguro bata pa ko so d ko mashado naalala kng ano andun..anyway…ayun nakita namin ung ga damit ni Sto. Nino, every year pinpalitan pla damit nia…yung damit nya grabe ung beadworks….saka talagang mamahaling stones…plus may mga original na mga libro nung dating panahon, ung tipong sulat kamay pa, may sulat pa nga dun si A.Lincoln eh….ayun..synpre historical and religious tour ang ginawa namin…then..ayun our next stop…we dropped by the Cebu Cathedral…not much naman….then…

Taoist Temple…this one is located in Beverly Hills…(O diba panghollywood!) ayun enjoy kse sympre Chinese mode kmi! Picture dito picture duon.hehehe aliw promise! Feeling namin nasa Hongkong kami..tapos dami pa replica ng Merlion so ayun Singapore na ang feeling..hehehehe…mejo hilltop na yun…so after namin duon lahat kami pagod na…we decided to go back to the hotel kse naiwan si Jen sa hotel..she opted to sleep nung umaga kse d ata sila natulog..ayun sinundo namin sya for lunch…

Lunch time! We went sa Sutukil..this place is famous for the fresh seafoods..para tong Dampa sa Paranaque..ayun..gulat kmi may kasabay kami na isang group..ung mga tiga luv ko JY..oh well…what a coincidence talaga….anyway deadma naman kami… so after lunch ayun punta kmi sa Mactan Shrine..it was supposed to be the last stop kya lang we decided out luck para pumunta ng Mactan Shangri-la kse maaga pa naman…

In Mactan Shangri-la naman…kala ko d kami makakapasok but then siguro sa dami ng pinuntahan na church the force este blessing pla was with us..hehehe ayun tuloy tuloy lang kmi sa loob..actually ung set up ng hotel is very very similar sa Rasa Sentosa Shangri-la sa Singapore…pati ung pool and the beach….un nga lang man made ung sa Singapore..sa Mactan true!! Sobrang init nga lang..sayang nga kse kung may dala kmi na pampaligo makakaligo kmi eh! So ayun picture picture na lang hahahaha!..so ayun mejo pagod na but then we went to the last stop..

Plantation Bay…I was hesistant na tumuloy kse alam ko strict duon but then since the force was with us nga….ayun nakaikot pa kami , nakasakay kami sa mini car ng Plantation, so ayun we got to see the whole place…Great Resort!!..un nga lang malayo sa beach yung mga rooms nila….those man made beaches siguro parang replacement ng swimming pools…but I’d choose Shangrila than Plantation Bay….Finally..balik na kmi sa hotel..

So ayun..around 5:30pm alis ulit kmi we went to Waterfront para icheckin naman ung gusto matulog duon…then .after that we went to the airport na to pick up ahmm..Jerry Yan..hahahaha eh sorry kami…sa cargo dumaan…so ayun wala as usual d namin nakita…as expected…..so hintay namin si Mia and Terry sila na lang sinundo namin…hehehehe….ayun…looooooonggg day!! So we had dinner and went back to the hotel then.sleep!!!!

Then ayun..the day was over..pagod!

Dali Na-a si Jerry sa Cebu!

July 25th, 2005 by lallie

By past 2am Aira’s phone was ringing, she was my roommate..…! Acckkkk!! Ang aga promise! Ok Jen and Shine was calling na coz  may pila na nga daw…HUWATTT?? Hahaha…I was thinking that the line would start by 6am…eekk..pasaway talaga F4 fans eh….

so I was half awake and tried going back to sleep…ok deadma..hahaha.ring ulit..I guess she received a call from Bheng….alis na daw sila..so I was kinda awake and thinking if we would follow…for goodness sake..ang aga!! Inaantok pa ko…!!! Ok higa ulit…mejo deadma to the world pa din kmi ni Aira…we were discussing whether to follow or not..hahaha..mga tamad eh…anyway…after a few minutes…ayun tumawag na sina Tita Lily…so d na kami nakatulog kse kami na lang maiiwan……so still undecided pa din kami …kse we were both thinking that it’s the same as last year..useless ang pagod at puyat coz of those major fans na pasaway…..

Then we tried calling Fran, ayun luckily gising din…so we eventually decided to follow na lang..but I suggested na we take breakfast before leaving…hahaha…..so ayun after breakfast we went to Waterfront na….as expected we were at number 60 sumthing na ata…

Anyway…ayun chikahan kami..sila Mia pla andun sa 20 sumthing..then sila Bheng was at the 40 sumthing ata…and I hard from them na as mentioned same old story…may nakapila na a day before that…hahaha! See? Ayan ang major pasaway..and Mia was so pissed off coz the reason they had was “If you are an F4 fan you should know..and put additional effort if gusto daw mauna..” sympre d papayag ang Atty namin noh! Ayan lumabas tuloy ang mga mandate at binding at heto ….sinagot sya ng “they were bounded…” accckkk..ano daw??????!!! Mwahahahaha!! As expected ganun nga ulit..Though it was not a new thing…new siguro pag may nakita ko na nagsapakan, like what Mia saw in Beijing na nagsabunutan ung fans…yikes scary!! At least here sigawan lang..hahaha!  Anyway ayun…pila kung pila walang singit..even those fans from Japan nakapila sa likod namin…no special treatment noh! To cut the long story short…in fairness all the fans was disciplined enough to queue according the F4 fans queuing procedure…hmm..o diba? Ano nga ba yung procedure na yun?…simple lang naman…ma-hohonor lang ang pila if you are physically present..pag wala ka, wala….so walang save save..dapat andun ka..keber kung ang kasama mo nasa unahan….pero sympre once you are in line pede naman mag CR hahahaha!…Ayun there were some singit pero since warfreak ang mga tao walang sinasanto dahil mga kulang sa tulog..sorry na lang sila…kawawang mga tiga Cebu sila yung nasa last…pano ung mga tga Manila anticipated na ganito mangyayari…

Anyway…Bench has this battalion of guards…as in battalion.. ..naloka nga kami eh! feeling namin one guard per fan…mwahahaha! OA kse eh..Ben Chan was paikot ikot in the area…kaway ditto..heheh feeling naman….hahaha….padaan daan, pangiti ngit hehehe…some other personalities…andun si Douglas Quijano…si Patrick Uy (official photograper of Bench)….Bryan Lim (I think he’s one of the kamag anak of Ben Chan..), the other guy I saw was also a top executive of Bench…ayun pakalat kalat sila…plus  some Taiwan media…ackk paparazzi ata yun hahahaha!

Since it was too early, what we did was to roam around and to chika with some familiar faces…at every F4 event we usually know each other na…katuwa diba? The crowd ranges from 5 years old to 65 years old…hey! I’m not kidding…Jerry is for all ages talaga…may mga moms bitbit ang mga anak…and ang mga anak bitbit mga moms…serious!

Then around 12noon mejo nagmove na yung pila..wow! finally!!then we heard Jerry rehearsing..hmm..he’s gonna sing live..ayan nagwala na mga tao..then the people from Waterfront was asking everyone to keep quiet..Tsk tsk tsk….d nila alam pinasok nila…hahahaha…eh pasalamat sila mild pa ung screams eh…at take note nasa labas pa yung mga tao wala pa sa loob….they just don’t know what’s in store for them…hahaha! But I heard most of the fans was booked in Waterfront, kaya nga fully booked and we only got one room in the hotel, para we have a place to sleep or rest while nakapila..

So ayun…when we finally get in, good thing may upuan unlike the last time in NBC tent nakatayo lang..so we were kind seated in the center mga 3rd row ata…but the rest was seated in front….it was still ok though…saka by the time Jerry would arrive I’m sure mapupunta kami sa harap…hehehe…

Then ayun the show started…fashion show but acckkk…those models are just sooo…hayyy…can you just ask Jerry to come out of that stage for heaven’s sake…!! Mas mabuti pa yung models last year at least andun sila Rizza Mananquil, sila Brent and cute ung mga models nila…eh this time as in super chaka to the max!! it was just so..you would wanna shout please lang!! tama na…hahahaha!

Nweizz…after the fashion show Jerry immediately went out..walang lights and at first the crowd was just ahm…is that Jerry or some model??? Then I was shaking Aira, “si Jerry”..then nung lumabas ung confetti the crowd went wild na…ackkk delayed reaction pano naman no introduction, no lights then Jerry went…”I’m nervous” hahaha..wala na the people went gaga na….and as I’ve said napunta na kami sa harap ni Aira, I was beside Mia na…hehehe…It was just too disappointing coz Jerry was only there for about less than 20 minutes on stage ata..he sang Gravity and the walang kamatayang National Anthem na I truly love you…hahahaha…anyway…he was really nervous..eh pano naman ung crowd feeling nia siguro dadakmain na sya….coz everyone was on the chairs na kulang na lang tumalon sa stage…Anyway..Amy Perez was the host, mukhang medyo kabado na din sya..plus the interview was very short, d nga mashado nakapagsalita si Jerry eh..pano the interpreter was cutting him off…acckkk..galit tuloy mga fans…ewan he was supposed to sing 3 songs, kya alng nagging 2 lang…according to some news I read eh d yata nagawa ni Jerry na pumasok sa stage then he has to come out ulit..He actually looks so tired…unlike last year he was sobrang glowing…though in fairness guapo pa din naman sya now..its just that you can see na he’s just so tired…ayun after the interview finish na…we went up to the room to rest a while and get ready for dinner! Imagine we didn’t have our lunch, breakfast lang and it as around 4pm na…btw, the show was 30 minutes lang ata…or basta less than an hour….

Then when we went down, we got in the van and nung palabas na kami sa Waterfront we saw the Expedition, and we saw some people in the kitchen exit ata yun…so we asked around..until we decided to satay a while, we might see Jerry come out, then the 3 Tita’s went up sa lobby, they got to talk to Ben Chan and made chika..then yun we confirmed that the flight he’s gonna take was the 7 pm past flight so we stayed a while and chinika ang guards…ackk lokohin ba daw kami..hahaha….sympre alam na namin sasagot nila..so since pasaway kmi and since we were there ayun finally we saw Jerry went out..plus Mia handed the gift  Shine prepared for him…then finally we went for dinner…whoa!! Finally!!!!

The Extra Nginig Adventures

July 25th, 2005 by lallie

I received I think 4 miss call from a Cebu number and I was wondering who was calling me since lahat kami magkakasama, eh yung hotel pla..They were asking us if its possible daw to transfer hotel kse I think na overlook nila and they were overbooked…And there were Koreans na nagwawala na sa lobby accorind to sarah, sila ata yung nagrereklamo…sabi naman nila, we will transfer to a “sister hotel” found in the city..so I asked them..agree naman sila..I was also thinking since it was near Ayala daw it would be easier for those who will be left na gumala since nasa City na nga yung hotel coz some of us will be going to Bohol nga….then the hotel staff said because of that, they will treat us for dinner na lang daw before kmi lumipat…so instead to eating we decided to buy some pasalubong na lang before going back…Then when we arrived we packed our things, checked out, then ate dinner..

We were all silent going to the other hotel kse nga super tired na..it was around an hour away…sobra layo! And it was not near Ayala noh! When we arrived all of us were kinda shocked..it was ackk…not the hotel I was expecting..una pla lang pasok..errr…..ok let’s not judge the outside and the lobby…the receptionist gave us the keys then..err..no elevator?? 3rd floor daw..ok….acckkk they were just oping the lights and the hallway was huge!! Acckk…does not smile nice huh and quite creepy!  Ok then we were looking for our roo…it was the far end room..near..i assume a fire exit…yikes it was a huge fire exit….was it a fire exit? Ang dilim!! Then Sine went out of the room and was so pissed..she was saying she doesn’t want to stay in the hotel coz…she can’t sleep in that kind of room…I was thinking since se haven’t slept for I guess 48 hours ata ayun nag alburoto..so deadma..then when we reached the room…I really did not feel good either…the room was  big..with two bed..then Aira went “ Laine, parang…” argghh…I told her stop it ok…stop whatever you want to say…Ok there was something like found around a lapida..yung tipong arch na nakaukit sa wall na may light yun nga lang frame nakalagay.then the sheets was acckk..like something you’d place inside a coffin..plus the mirror has this background nawierd..tipong silver na may carvings..scary!!! then finally Aira blurted out..”laine, parang museleo!!’ ackk then we ran outside..hahahaha! then I went to Tita Lily’s room, then Bheng and Tital Letty wet there too, then Shine and Jen then we were discussing na nobody wants to stay there…Then sinilip namin ung room nila Bheng..yikes mas creepy! They had this four poster na bed at dalawa pa! at etong si Aira shouted “Yikes may aparador kayo!” wahhhh!! The cabinet was antique, plus the bed was also antique, just imagine…sobra talaga..so we were like discussing if we will stay..kya lang everyone has the same feeling na the place is really creepy!

So we packed up..I talked to the Hotel staff, I demanded transfer pano ba naman noh! I was just sooo pissed…I told them na the place was eerie, the sheets was dirty, there’s a lot of insects, basta it was scary!! Ijust imagine siguro kung natulog kmi duon may na posses na sa amin na isa! Talaga!  Then ayun…kahit pagod na kami we waited for them na itransfer kami…At first they said na icompromise na lang daw if we could stay there for a night, we insited no..so finally they got us a hotel sa Cebu Midtown…ayun we rested na finally! But it was 12 na…I guess lesson learned : kung asan ka dun ka na! hahahaha..wag na palipat lipat!

Side trip to Bohol

July 25th, 2005 by lallie

We waked up at around 5am so we could catch the 640am ferry to Bohol. It was really hard to wake up…No choice..nothing to do the rest of the day pag d kami pumunta sa Bohol….When we arrived sa Weesam, it was 630am na the line was not moving because of the Korean Group..again!!! *(&(*^*(% so since according to them the ferry will leave at exactly 540 we were kinda rushing pano tagal nung nagrerelease ng tickets eh! So twice ko inopen ung door para to tell them na nagagalit na din ung ibang nakapila…pano since those Koreans was on tour dapat they got the tickets early…anyway…so finally sabi nung tao sa loob we could get in the ferry na nga..so ayun nagtakbuhan..we waited pa nga kina Aira and Fran coz they bought some coffee pa…Then magkakahiwalay na nga lang kmi…Then nung nagbabayad na Bheng textd me that they were charged P200.00 higher so sabi ko how come.so I talked to the manager err..don’t know who he is..I asked and then he told me they were seated in the first class..sabi ko eh its your fault not ours..dahil nga dun sa Korean na group na delay kmi was it our fault..then he returned the P200.00, ang nakakahiya since I was seated sa aisle he knelt down to say sorry for the hassle and to give the P200.00 back nga….acckkk nakakahiya talaga…ayun nagkalokohan tuloy kmi….

When we arrived, our first stop was the Blood Compact site, then took some pictures…nothing much..just some ahm..historical landmark…hehehe

Baclayon Church….then sympre we went inside to pay respect naman, then we saw a lighthouse…so nilakad namin even mainit..sympre d namin papalampasin..Love Storm eh! Hahahaha….

Next stop was to Chocolate Hills and Loboc River, on the way we paased by the Bilar Forest…then..up to the famous Chocolate Hills…bakit nga ba Chocloate Hills? Coz since the ground is really not soil limestones daw to it was used to be a body of water ata before then naform ng ganun .. so puro grass lang ang tumutubo walang trees pag summer brown daw yun kse nga nag dadry ung grass…took some pictures…before going pla to see the hilltop akyat ka muna ng 200 something na stairs…sobra taas talaga! It was so tiring!

So after, we went to the tarsiers..oh they were cute pla….i mean small…hahahaha but with a very big eyes! Though at first it was kia kia (scary) but they were kinda tame naman…ok lang to touch ..then meron pa nga na some sort of bat ba yun..pero family of rodent daw…yikes!

Then we went to Loboc River via a banka….we saw some spring, then the waterfalls in the far end of the Loboc, plus the floating restaurants, then those kids on top of the coconut tree…finally had lunch na around past 2pm na siguro…our last stop was of course pasalubong…By 5pm we were waiting for the ferry at the terminal na..finally rest na! oh we had another free dinner pa sa hotel huh! Hmmphh! With the hassle tama naman eh..aside from the lunch of those na naiwan namin sa hotel, btw they gave us rooms back in Crown pla…

Sunday, back to Manila! After those 4 days of super non stop adventures..uwi na kami! I guess everyone had a wonderful trip kahit may hassles and all…well, it was part of the fun!

Stay by Cueshe (read as Q-shey)

July 10th, 2005 by lallie

I love this song..its an OPM and im impressed! nweizz…here’s the lyrics… :)

I believe
we shouldnt let the moment pass us by
life’s too short
we shouldnt wait for the water to run dry

think about it
cause we only have one shot at destiny
all im asking
could it possibly be you and me?

So if you’d still go, i’ll understand
would you give me something just to hold on to?
and if you’ll stay, ill hold your hand
cause im truly, madly, crazily in love with you

Time has come
for us to go our separate ways
God forbid
But my mind is going crazy today

i feel so cold
feel so numb
im having nightmares but im awake
Help me lord
Fight this loneliness
Take this pain away

So if you’d still go, i’ll understand
would you give me something just to hold on to?
and if you’ll stay, ill hold your hand
cause im truly, madly, crazily in love with you

Now that you’re gone, im all alone
im still hoping that you would come back home
dont care how long, but im willing to wait
Cause im truly, madly, crazily in love with you

Want the MP3? just message me … :)

Pope John Paul II ~~

April 5th, 2005 by lallie

I just wanna give tribute to this great man!!

In memoriam~~

Remembering Pope John Paul II…

His childhood: “After (my mother’s) death, and later, the death of my older brother, I was left alone with my father, a deeply religious man. Day after day, I was able to observe the austere way in which he lives. By profession he was a soldier, and after my mother’s death, his life became one of constant prayer. … His example was in a way my very first seminary, a kind of domestic seminary.”

— From his 1996 memoirs, Gift and Mystery

World War II: “My priestly vocation took definitive shape at the time of the Second World War, during the Nazi occupation. Was this a mere coincidence, or was there a more profound connection between what was developing within me and external historical events? It is hard to answer such a question. Certainly, in God’s plan, nothing happens by chance.”

— From Pope John Paul II: A Tribute, 1999

The Pontiff’s thoughts on:

Practicing diplomacy: “The only strain I find is that here I am constantly switching languages. I may be reading a document in Italian, then I receive people in German, then more papers in French and English, or an audience in these languages. I suppose I will get used to it.”

— From Pope John Paul II: A Tribute, 1999

Sexual abuse by priests: “People need to know that there is no place in the priesthood and religious life for those who would harm the young. … The abuse which has caused this crisis is by every standard wrong and rightly considered a crime by society. It is also an appalling sin in the eyes of God.”

— Remarks to U.S. cardinals

A Remembrance of John Paul
By VICTOR L. SIMPSON, Associated Press Writer

VATICAN CITY - I was on a plane, unshaven, bedraggled, wearing a creased safari jacket still damp from a monsoon in the Seychelles.

So I thought I should apologize to Pope John Paul II before joining him for dinner, duly explaining that these were my "working clothes."

"And these are my working clothes," he responded with a smile, clutching his white robe to make his point.

It was a remarkable moment, a pope joking and about to sit down to dinner with a journalist, whereas his predecessors had been held in such regal awe they were carried around on portable thrones.

From the Oct. 16, 1978, evening the name of Cardinal Karol Wojtyla was announced as the new pope, prompting many among the throngs in St. Peter’s Square to shout "chi e?," (who?), it was clear this would be a different papacy.

The 50 reporters who traveled with John Paul on his foreign pilgrimages got an especially close — and different — look at the Polish prelate.

We were beside him as he shuffled to the music of African bands in the Congo, as he winced when security guards roughly pushed back adoring faithful on his first trip home to Poland, when he was rushed to his plane after scuffles broke out between students in East Timor and Indonesian security forces. He sat with his eyes closed and prayed.

Until his health began declining about a decade ago, he walked up and down the aisles of the plane answering questions in about a half-dozen languages, prompting bishops I knew to complain we had better access to him.

His last full-fledged airborne news conference came en route to Havana in 1998.

A year later, flying to India, he came back to greet the press and take one question. He didn’t hesitate when asked his opinion of Pope Pius XII at a time when criticism was building over his possible beatification. "He was a great pope," John Paul said.

Back to that airborne dinner: John Paul was extremely weary after a long pilgrimage to New Zealand and Australia in 1986, but he asked a reporter and the Australian ambassador to the Holy See who were aboard the Qantas jetliner to join him.

He wanted to hear how we thought he did.

He seemed a little short with the ambassador, starting with the choice of wine when the envoy suggested a red and John Paul said he preferred a white, which he sipped while picking at his lobster salad.

After that it was downhill for the envoy. When he insisted Australians were more English than American in style, John Paul cut him off and snapped: "American."

It was on one of those trips that I learned just how powerful his private secretary, Archbishop Stanislaw Dziwisz, a fellow Pole, had become. The pope had dodged a question on a new wave of strikes against the communist government in Poland when turbulence cut off the news conference.

Later, Dziwisz called several reporters up to the pope’s cabin and, whispering in our ears, suggested we ask the same question again.

Clearly some political calculations had been made in the interval, for this time, John Paul came out with a ringing defense of the right of workers to strike.

Like a politician on the stump, John Paul endured outlandish gifts and gestures — a Mexican sombrero topping off his white robes, a coral necklace placed around his neck by Yasser Arafat as he sat at the Palestinian leader’s headquarters during a 2000 pilgrimage to the Holy Land.

During the Australian visit, he was handed a koala — one of the memorable photographs recording his 104 foreign trips. If he felt his dignity had been damaged he didn’t say, but handed off the animal as quickly as he could.

The pope seemed as shocked as his bodyguards when the president of Yemen visited the Vatican in November, opened up a fancy leather case — and presented John Paul with a traditional curved sword.

April 11 issue - George H.W. Bush, Former American President
‘I always sensed his spiritual power.’

When it came time for Desert Storm, I got a lovely, heartfelt telegram from him, pleading for a peaceful way to settle the differences with Iraq. At bottom, I had to respectfully disagree with his view—I believed, and I told him, that we had to use force to end the brutalities being inflicted on Kuwait, but he spoke with great heart and great hope.

Salah Kuftaro, Head of the Islamic Foundation In Damascus
‘He [spoke] with the enthusiasm of a young man.’

Despite his old age and poor health, the pope had a strong spirit. It was difficult for him to speak, but when he did, it was with the enthusiasm of a young man … I didn’t feel like we were strangers … The pope is a citizen of the world.

Maciej Zieba, Head of the Dominican Order in Poland
‘When he prayed, it was physical.’

In the morning, he prayed for the entire world. He looked at the map of the world and with his eyes traveled all across it, praying country by country.

This was in his apartment. Then in the chapel he prayed for all the members of the Curia around him, looking at sheets of paper with their names and photos as he did so, going from one to the other. The first two or three hours of his day were all prayers.

John Paul II wrote a few years ago:
"When the moment of our definitive ‘passage’ comes, grant that we may face it with serenity, without regret for what we shall leave behind. For in meeting You, after having sought You for so long, we shall find once more every authentic good which we have known here on earth, in the company of all who have gone before us marked with the sign of faith and hope."

Here’s the lyrics….

Our little conversations
turning into little sweet sensations
and they’re only getting sweeter everytime we’re together
wishing that goodbyes turn to never
‘coz with you is where, I always want to be

[Refrain:]
I can’t pretend I’m just a friend
‘Coz I’m thinking maybe we were meant to be

[Chorus:]
I think I’m fallin’, fallin’ in love with you
and I don’t, I don’t know what to do
I’m afraid you’ll turn away
but I’ll say it anyway
I think I’m fallin’ for you
fallin’ for you

Whenever I’m beside you
All I really want to do is hold you
No one else but you has meant this much to me

[Refrain:]
I can’t pretend I’m just a friend
‘Coz I’m thinking maybe we were meant to be

[Chorus:]
I think I’m fallin’, fallin’ in love with you
and I don’t, I don’t know what to do
I’m afraid you’ll turn away
but I’ll say it anyway
I think I’m fallin’ for you
fallin’ for you

do you believe? love moves in mysterious ways nga ba????

Who'd have thought
This is how the pieces fit?
You and I
Shouldn't even try making sense of it

I forgot
How we ever came this far
I believe we had reasons
but I don't know what they are
So blame it on my heart, oh

Love moves in mysterious ways
It's always so surprising
When love appears over the horizon
I'll love you for the rest of my days
But still, it's a mystery
How you ever came to me
Which only proves
Love moves in mysterious ways

Heaven knows
Love is just a chance we take
We make plans
But then love demands a leap of faith

So hold me close
And never let me go
'Cause even though we think we know
which way the river flows
That's not the way love goes, no

Love moves in mysterious ways
It's always so surprising
When love appears over the horizon
I'll love you for the rest of my days
But still, it's a mystery
How you ever came to me
Which only proves
Love moves in mysterious ways

Like the ticking of the clock
two hearts beat as one
But I'll never understand
the ways it's done

Love moves in mysterious ways
It's always so surprising
When love appears over the horizon
I'll love you for the rest of my days
But still, it's a mystery
How you ever came to me
Which only proves
Love moves in mysterious ways
Love moves in mysterious ways
 :)
