Korean Series…what’s in it?

Saturday, March 26th, 2005

Just wanna enlighten those peeps whose been wonderin’ whats in these Korean series why i got so hooked up?….i’ve watched Korean series/dramas and some Korean movies as well (not that many though), and i could say that it’s really addicting…though when watching a series/drama its gonna take time..yes a lot of time coz you’ll spend about 16 hours minimum to watch one series(depends on how many the cd’s are..) …hahahaha…its good if you really don’t do anything….well compare with my friends who watch it for two days..i’m pretty slow….for me give me a max of 4 days straight hahahahaha! The truth is..i’ve got this Korean series/drama backlogs hahahaha! At least i’m not on the top list..harharhar…

Ahm…i don’t know if i could remember the series/dramas i’ve watched…lemme see…

  • Stairway to Heaven
  • Attic Cat
  • Sweet 18
  • Lovers in Paris
  • MISA (I’m sorry, I love you..)
  • Full House

…..?? hmm…???…don’t know if i’ve missed something..

see it’s really not that many….hehehe…ok that’s excluding the Chinese series :)  … and the Korean movies….which I think i will not remember…

I just realized that we’ve been missing a lot in terms of the what we call quality  in our series or let me say telenovelas….by just watching those series, i think we can do better, but why is it that the stories we have in our soap operas are just way to "nakakasawa" …??? See, the two giant networks import shows from nearby Asian countries….so why is that?  and yes it appeals to the masses…ahm…just my POV..here’s why..

~ Korean (Chinese… too) series have endings….hahaha funny…if you watch a soap here it’ll last you a lifetime..paikot ikot ang kwento walang katapusan….

~ they are not afraid to experiment on the story….be it mabababaw, be it super deep na tagos sa puso…basta good story…

~ most of the series have the what you call the "twist" well, can’t seem to see it in the telenovelas here…and what’s good about it is, you can’t guess it..hahahaha which makes it exciting and addicting…

~ after the series you’ll be thinking how and why,and have to analyze….except of course for those super comedy na series na you’ll end up smiling after watching…wierd hehehehe..

~ and after watching one…you want some more!

~ and they have original soundtracks that makes it very appealing….and its gonna play over and over and over on your head after you finish one series…which makes you wanna hear it over and over and over again..hehehehe..melody itself is just great! well that is if you know how to appreciate music…hihihihi…

~ last but not the least..most of the leads are mucho guapitooss!! hehehe and believe it or not they know how to cry!!!!as in cry! they are better than the actresses mind you…and when those guys cry…argghh!!! you just wanna comfort them..hahaha..ah basta have not seen any Pinoy actor whose good in crying!!! and those guys do most of the crying ha!

all i’m saying is..it’s like ….it’s not everyday that you eat the same thing…sympre if you eat the same food everyday, nakakasawa….you’ve got to try some other food as well…be it a Korean dish, be it a Chinese dish..Thai dish..or whatever appeals to you…

it’s good to learn and to explore new things…diba? :o) and..does it make me different from you? I don’t think so.. :o)

I’m sorry, I love you….

Just finished watching this Korean series….and what can i say????? it’s one of the series that made me cry……aside from the fact that So Ji Sub is just soooooooooo may i say handsome and just simply gorgeous guy??? argghh! yes he is! i’ll admit i liked him at first sight when Annie was going gaga over MISA (MISA is the Korean Title for Mianhada, Saranghanda…which means I’m Sorry, I Love you) and after watching it…he’s just so guapo at i wanna give him two thumbs up for his acting is just soooo great!!!!!  plus Im Soo Jung acts also pretty well… :) wala na ko idadagdag pa… hehehe..

Anyway….why is it entitled I’m Sorry, I Love you?? i guess you’ll just have to find out…am i too selfish..? of course not! just lazy to type… hahaha..and besides don’t wanna spoil you in case you would like to watch it…

But….Why do you think a person will say sorry for loving someone?? i think it’s just too cruel to say sorry because you love the person, i think its just unfair if you say sorry for loving a person….why do you apologize for loving anyway??

I’ll leave you with that…

I’m gonna miss…ajushi…and rockhead! just wanna share with you some lines from this series….

EunChae to Moohyuk :

"I’m sorry, there’s a lot i want to give you but the only thing i leave with you is pain.."

Moohyuk’s prayer :

"Oh lord, if you do really exist, I promise you Song Eun Chae.  If you let her be beside me for the rest of my life, If you let her comfort me for the time I have left, If you don’t hurt me again, I’ll give up my life right now, my hatred, my anger, I’ll throw them away and die quietly Lord.  I make a promise with you…"

EunChae :

"Even when I was living, he was lonely.  So I could’nt leave him alone like that.  Just this once in my life.  I’m thinking of myself, and living for myself.  I’ll accept any punishments that comes..Song Eun Chae"

AJA! AJA! FIGHTING!!! :)

Cast:
Han Ji Eun – Song Hye Gyo
Lee Young Jae – Jung Ji Hoon (Bi)
Kang Hae Won – Han Eun Jung
Yoo Min Hyuk – Kim Sung Soo

I haven’t been so addicted to a Korean drama since "Autumn’s Tale". "Full House" will probably be my favorite drama of 2004. I won’t go into details about the plot, but here’s a brief summary:

After coming back from a trip to China that her friends paid for, Han Ji Eun finds out that they did so only to sell her house while she was away. She returns and finds that the new owner of the house is none other than famous actor Lee Young Jae, whom she happened to meet on her trip. Circumstances bring Young Jae and Ji Eun into a marriage by contract, making them appear as a couple to the public. Under the terms of the contract, they will be married for 6 months while Ji Eun does all the housework. After 6 months, she will get the house back. Ji Eun finds herself falling for Young Jae, but he loves his childhood friend, Hae Won. Young Jae’s friend, Min Hyuk, also shows an interest in Ji Eun. Many interesting and amusing things happen to this “couple” throughout their married life that bring them closer together, but will they really become a couple?

Acting:
Han Ji Eun - Song Hye Kyo
She appears to be weak, but she won’t let herself get picked on. Even though she fights with Young Jae all the time, she can’t help but be touched by his obscure kindness. However, she knows that he loves Hae Won and finds it harder and harder to live as his “wife” under such circumstances.

Like many people, I had my doubts about Song Hye Kyo portraying this type of role. Unlike her previous roles, Ji Eun is a bit naïve but cheerful, lively, funny, strong-willed, and less refined. However, Hye Kyo has proved herself as a capable actress. Her acting has improved greatly, and her portrayal of Han Ji Eun was flawless. The scene where she imagined herself “pushing herself on” Young Jae was hilarious. The clumsiness and silliness were depicted well. She should take on more of these types of roles.

Lee Young Jae – Jung Ji Hoon (Bi)
A popular rising actor in Korea, Young Jae marries Ji Eun because of rumors of his sexuality. Although Young Jae appears to be rough and is mean to Ji Eun, he actually does care about her. He has always liked his childhood friend Hae Won, but he seems to be quite possessive about Ji Eun sometimes.

Also a popular singer known as Bi/Rain, Jung Ji Hoon acted very well as the loud Young Jae. He had a very cute smile that makes him look like a child when he was around Ji Eun. Although he seemed to overdo the “I’m lost” look a bit, he was a very good Lee Young Jae. His chemistry with Hye Kyo was great, and they really did seem like a married couple.

Kang Hae Won - Han Eun Jung
Young Jae’s childhood friend, who was pursuing Min Hyuk at the beginning of the series. However, she finds herself jealous when Young Jae marries Ji Eun. Min Hyuk points out that she only “wants” him, but doesn’t like him, and she realizes she does not want Young Jae, who has always been by her side, to be taken away from her.

This character wasn’t particularly evil, just the annoying third party. The role didn’t really require many expressions, and Han Eun Jung’s portrayal was acceptable.

Yoo Min Hyuk - Kim Sung Soo
Young Jae and Hae Won’s friend. He is rich and successful, which means that he has many girls after him. He always takes care of Ji Eun and helps her. He doesn’t want her to be hurt by Young Jae.

Kim Sung Soo is charming and good-looking, and he has a definite screen presence, allowing him to fit into the role of Min Hyuk quite nicely. He acted well as the Min Hyuk who was also looking out for Ji Eun and waiting patiently for her to return his feelings. While Hae Won was selfish, Min Hyuk was more of a gentlemen.

In General:
A very good series that shouldn’t be missed, especially if you’re a fan of Bi or Song Hye Kyo. Both put up superb performances and had amazing chemistry. Watch for all those hilarious and sweet moments the two have. You’ll just find yourself wondering why they don’t just get together already, since they are legally married anyway. The ending song “Destiny” is also very nice.

This ends my first blog entry :)

Ciao!!
